When most people start a programmed fitness regimen, they usually also consider a diet plan as well. It only makes sense to check your diet, right? If you want to take care of your body, whether you’re losing weight or gaining muscle, you have to watch what you put into your body so you can get the most out of it.

YOUR DIET IS MORE THAN FOOD AND DRINK

What if I told you that your diet isn’t just the food and drink you consume on a daily basis? When we say we’re going on a diet, our brains automatically associate it with food and drink. But in reality, when I define ‘diet’, I define it as everything your body consumes on a daily basis. And trust me when I say you can consume something without eating or drinking it. Consumption takes place through the human senses: touch, taste, hearing, vision, and smell. Anything that is absorbed through those senses is your diet, and you are influenced by the things you experience through these senses. They create emotions in us, and emotions can influence behavior. All of these senses are important and help us experience life. However, the two most important ones that affect our diets the most, other than taste, are hearing and vision.

WHAT WE SEE AND HEAR

Who or what you listen to and see on a daily basis massively influences the type of person you are and will eventually become. It includes a plethora of stimuli. It is the friends you hang around, your family, work environment, what you watch on TV, stream on your phone, podcasts you listen to, what you follow on social media, what music you listen to, what books you read, what romantic relationships you have, who you ride the bus with, etc… Each and every single thing that comes into your life will mold your mentality. And if you’re surrounding yourself with the wrong voices and images, you are going to be negatively impacted. Think about it, have you ever hung around someone who just sucks the life out of you? They always find something negative about everything and it’s exhausting. Then you start to be negative because energy is contagious.

You can have a great diet. You can take care of your body, stay strong, mobile, and fit. You can keep yourself attractive and well-groomed. You can drink your greens and eat whole foods. But at the end of the day, if you’re absorbing garbage ideologies, negative voices, and unproductive, toxic people into your life that is exactly what you’re going to become. And when that happens, it’s only a matter of time before your mind starts to decline. Once your mind goes, the body follows with it. So in the end, you won’t even have good nutrition or a good body anymore. All of the negative energy you let into your life sucks the soul out of you.

CHECK YOUR DIET

So in conclusion, always check your diet daily! Make sure you’re absorbing good whole people and content into your life, just like you’d be eating good whole foods if you started a nutritional plan. Think of your life as a mental workout program, and your diet plan is every stimuli you allow into your mind. It’s all about what energy you allow in your life.
