BUILDING CONFIDENCE THROUGH PERSONAL TRAINING

How can personal training help you build confidence? It seems really simple and obvious, right? You’ll look better, of course! Wrong - not where I’m going with this. At all. Building confidence can be done in many ways and can mean many things. I’m going to explain how personal training can help you build confidence on a much deeper level. Confidence comes from within and how YOU perceive yourself. Some ways personal training helps build confidence include but is not limited to having learning opportunities when you train, feeling better in your body, and creating consistent routines and discipline. I’ll dive deeper into these topics below.

Learning Opportunities

I work with a lot of “beginner” level clients. By this, I simply mean these people haven’t been taught how to move their bodies and lift weights. These clients are my favorite. The amount of learning opportunities they have from session to session is so exciting. A lot of people don’t know how to comfortably squat for their body. Or brace their core. And, hey, if you don’t know what that means, I have exciting news for you! You have a learning opportunity. Come work with me and let me help you learn what the heck that means. Anyway, I get to help these people understand what they should be feeling during their squat and how it should look for their body. Which, by the way, is so different for every person. By the end of someone’s first session with me, I am confident (get it?) that they will feel more knowledgeable about their body. WIN. One step closer to overall confidence.

Feeling Better in Your Body

Session by session, I continue this cycle of helping people become more knowledgeable about their bodies. I work on a variety of movement patterns with clients - many that they do every day and some that they may have never done. As the weeks go by, I will have clients come in and say “wow, my back is hurting a lot less than when I first started.” Or “I feel a lot stronger recently.” This is when people start feeling better in their body. It’s small changes first. People become aware of changes they can do in their everyday life to make their bodies feel better. They can translate their training session to their real life. Which is how it should be by the way. Feeling better in your body ultimately makes you move better daily, which makes you more confident in how you move in life. Win #2.

Creating Consistent Routines & Discipline

When you work with a personal trainer, you’ll follow a structured workout schedule tailored to your lifestyle and goals. Your trainer will help you create a realistic plan, focusing on consistency and progression throughout your sessions. Week after week, you’ll refine your movements, build strength, and -imagine this- gain confidence. As you stick to this scheduled plan, your sessions will become habits, and your routine will feel more natural. Overtime, you’ll develop consistency, understand your training plan, and feel empowered in the gym. When you create these positive habits in the gym for yourself and feel better mentally and physically, it makes it a smidge easier to do this in other aspects of your life.

Conclusion

Building confidence through personal training goes far beyond physical appearance - it’s about gaining knowledge, feeling stronger in your body, and developing consistency in your routine. Each session is an opportunity to learn and grow. Over time, as you master movements, gain strength, and establish habits, your confidence will naturally expand beyond the gym and flow into your daily life. I am thankful I get to work with so many clients day-to-day, because I truly see everything in this blog play out in real time. And it’s really great. So, if you’ve been considering personal training, do it. Do it for yourself. Build the routine with the help of a coach, and use it for life.
