REASSESSING YOUR ANNUAL GOALS
It’s coming up on the middle of the year, and you have either already accomplished your yearly goals, or you are still working towards them. Both of these circumstances are perfectly normal, but the question is, how do you plan your next move? Exercise and training goals vary in difficulty, time, and measurement.
CELEBRATE YOUR GOAL LIKE A SOCCER PLAYER WOULD!
A goal is something that you should treat no differently than a soccer player treats their goals. When the goal is made or accomplished, you should celebrate with pure passion: run around like a little kid, do your favorite dance, and thank everyone who doubted you. Before you celebrate, though, you must make sure you decide upon a goal that will make you want to run around and scream at the top of your lungs.
GOAL SETTING AT PFP
This month at PFP, we introduced a more formalized goal-setting process and instituted weekly check-ins. We have done this to help better frame out workouts, add an additional layer of accountability, and help our coaches communicate better with all of the members at Pittsburgh Fitness Project.
TURNING ACCESSORIES INTO SUCCESSORIES
Accessory work is additional exercises or modalities that are added to your program to help you build strength, improve position, improve technical abilities, or even reduce pain caused by inefficiencies. Whatever accessory work you decide to do it should have a clear purpose for being your program, especially if you have limited time to train.
SMART GOALS: HOW TO BUILD YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR FITNESS JOURNEY
In order to make a plan for a fitness journey, we must know where we are going, for without a result to build towards, we are just wandering. With a final goal in mind, we can logically work backward from the end and establish our beginning. What steps do we take to get there, and how do we outline our path to our goal?
WAYS TO WIN YOUR WORKOUT WHEN PROGRESS SLOWS DOWN
In order to continue to improve each season, let's focus on other qualities of our workouts in order to find daily “wins” & stay motivated.
PROCESS DRIVEN FITNESS:
At Pittsburgh Fitness Project, we chose to focus on the process because it is the strategy that allows for the most long-term success while increasing our fun to success ratio. No matter what the outcome goal is, hitting the goal will not bring us happiness by itself. The magic of goal setting and the pursuit of goals are the lessons and experiences that come along with the pursuit.
