GET TO KNOW OUR TRAINERS: AMANDA SERAPIGLIA
Hi, my name is Amanda, and I am one of the newest personal trainers here at PFP! My passion for athletics began at the age of 4 when I started my gymnastics career. Throughout my career, I advanced to compete at the Junior Olympic level 9 Eastern Nationals in 2018. After retiring from gymnastics, I kept engaged in the sport by coaching competitive gymnastics and becoming a mentor to girls competing in the sport.
Always Competitive
However, the competitive aspect of my life never changed. I quickly became involved in Olympic weightlifting as an avenue to compete and gain my strength back. In 2022, I became a national U25 champion, and in the same year, I started a youth barbell program at PFP. Twice a week, I coach a group of young athletes who are either looking to learn how to Olympic weightlift or also enhancing their athleticism in a different sport.
Weightlifting has helped a lot of young gymnasts gain the upper body strength to swing on the bars or given soccer players stronger legs to run and score goals because of the dynamic nature of the lifts. Not only does weightlifting provide strength to our youth, but it helps them understand proprioception and how different parts of their body move in time and space.
I Love Working with Kids
Working with kids has been one of the biggest blessings in my life because I know that many kids may not grow up in a loving and nurturing environment, so cultivating a protective space within the gym gives them an opportunity to grow as a person and understand their body mechanics. My love for mentoring kids has inspired me to work with athletes of all ages and skill levels in order to provide them with a safe and uplifting gateway into sports.
Having a background in gymnastics, it’s my mission to help young girls and women appreciate their body for what it can do instead of what it looks like. Learning to love your body is one of the hardest challenges many females, and males, face during their lifetime, but ultimately realizing how powerful our bodies are will change the way we view fitness entirely. This is why at PFP, I strive to create an inclusive environment where everybody gains confidence in themselves and feels comfortable walking into a gym environment. I want everyone to realize their strength and not be afraid to utilize it.
Who I’ve Worked With
I have worked with people from ages 4 to 79 years old and love the unique challenges that come with training such a wide variety of people. Although, I have noticed that no matter the age, we all start somewhere, and it is never too late to start gaining confidence in yourself and learning how to move your body. As I continue my coaching and athletic career, I plan to push the boundaries and show women of all ages and sizes that we are strong too. We don’t need to be afraid of fitness, and we can show anyone the strength and beauty that are inside of us. I look forward to continuing my diverse clientele here at PFP!
