OUR NEWEST-ISH TRAINERS & COACHES
We’ve had some new trainer and coach faces at the gym over the course of the last few months, and we wanted to finally take a second to introduce you all to them via blog. Meet Nick, Haylie, and Joseph - we’re so excited for you to get to know, work with, and learn from their expertise!
Nick Baptise, NASM CPT
Personal Trainer, Coach
Nick is a personal trainer, certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He started becoming more involved in fitness later in his teenage years, and decided to make it a part of his career as he completed college. That didn't come to fruition until after working his share of jobs that were less than ideal for him. However, those jobs did help him realize how people can let their health slip away.
It is Nick's personal mission to help people from all walks of life to unlock their potential, and to believe in their ability to do so. It is his desire to foster an interest in fitness and to teach people the benefits of exercise along the way. A lifelong learner himself, Nick is passionate about seeking new challenges, and loves to share that passion for personal growth with others.
Haylie Helbig, USAW L1, USA Gymnastics L1
Coach
Hello! I am Haylie: aka Meatball, Princess Peach, and the little pony that could. I started my fitness journey in college Track & Field and CrossFit. Along the way I gained my CF-L1 to coach classes and weightlifting seminars at a local gym in Indiana, and when I came home for the pandemic I coached preschool gymnastics. About April of 2021, I decided I was ready to quit CrossFit and run full swing with Olympic weightlifting training/competing. Around June, I gained my USAW-L1 and sought opportunities for coaching.
What I love most about PFP is the community atmosphere and constant encouragement. This is a sport where it's easy to get frustrated with plateaus or even declining progress. Life happens and our bodies are complex. It takes dedication and a tough mind to stick around, and I fully believe PFP is the first gym I've been to that has successfully fostered this energy for everyone. You walk in and see people of all ages, levels, and backgrounds; all training with the same heart and purpose. You attend the local meets and can see the same care given to every athlete from every coach. This is truly a big family, and I am so excited to join this staff of knowledgeable athletes who I look up to so much.
Joseph McNulty, USAW-L1, ACE CPT
Personal Trainer, Coach
Hi, my name is Joseph McNulty! I graduated from John Carroll University with a B.S. in Biology and I’m currently a master’s student at the University of Pittsburgh studying Infectious Diseases and Microbiology.
My journey with fitness started in college, where I played football and threw the shot put in track and field. I trained under Tim Robertson Jr., where I developed a true passion for exercise and fitness. Humbled quickly by a series of knee injuries, I learned the importance of multiple methods of exercise and fitness, spanning from strength training to holistic approaches such as breathing techniques. While at Carroll, I quickly became interested in the intricacies of programming for athletes. Upon graduation and moving to Pittsburgh, I began training in Olympic Weightlifting at PFP. While training, PFP showed me the value of fitness within all walks of life and inspired me to get my certified personal training license from the American Council on Exercise.
My goal as a personal trainer is to show people what their bodies are capable of and help them develop a better relationship with themselves: mind, body, and spirit. With my background in athletics, the bulk of my experience is in coaching athletes who are training sports-specific movements. However, I am incredibly excited to help people fall in love with fitness and tap into their inner potential.
