TOP TEN SUMMER SELF-CARE TIPS

Summer can be a great time to do self-care. The days are long and warm so it’s easy to enjoy outdoor activities. Sunlight is a great mood elevator as well! Let’s look at our list of “Top Ten Summer Self-Care Tips” that will help you maintain physical and mental well-being.

  1. Relax Outside

Sit under a shaded tree to read a book or listen to your favorite music.  Have a lunchtime or evening picnic.  Fresh air and sunshine go a long way for self-care.

2. Exercise and Try Something New!

Try renting a bike for a trail ride. Grab a friend and take an evening stroll. Try a PFP exercise class! Exercise elevates mood, and regular exercise has great health benefits. Don’t forget the sunscreen when you are outside.

3. Clean a Small Area of Your Home

Reducing clutter helps clear the mind. Start small. Pick a junk drawer in the house or clean the fridge.  Small manageable projects are doable and give a sense of accomplishment.

4. Try a Community Activity

Check the local paper or look online for outdoor community activities for something new to do. Outdoor movies, festivals, or concerts can be a great way to meet people and enjoy the outdoors.

5. Check Out a Local Farmer’s Market

Fresh, local produce can be great over the summer. Check out your local farmer’s market to see what is available.

6. Do a ‘Spa’ Day

Take a bath. Schedule a PFP massage or do one of our dry sauna sessions. Schedule a salon appointment or get a shave. Physical self-care always makes you feel better!

7. Connect with Someone

Human connection is important. We all missed that during the pandemic. Take a walk with a friend and catch up. Call your parents or a grandparent. Social interaction helps maintain your health and mental well-being.

8. Explore

Check out a new neighborhood in the city. Try a new restaurant. New experiences help refresh our minds.

9. Practice Mindfulness

Try a meditation app once a day. Deep breathing exercises help clear the mind. With practice, they can become a good stress reliever when needed.

10. Volunteer

Helping others puts our own problems into perspective. It also helps us see others in new ways. Check out a local organization like a food bank and see if you can volunteer.
