Brenna’s Background

Brenna has worked in the fitness industry since 2012. Her passion for the field grew in high school when she was sidelined from playing basketball after a series of knee surgeries. While she was working on her return from injury, she began to watch those around her training and fell in love with the process of improving and how the body responds to training. Brenna went on to play college basketball before discovering her passion lies in training for the sport more than playing the sport itself. Brenna received her Bachelor of Science at the UW Oshkosh and went on to work at the University of Iowa and eventually moved to complete her Master’s in exercise physiology at the University of Kentucky. While at Kentucky, she trained the university employees, hosted campus-wide health initiatives, and worked as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for a variety of sports teams. Throughout her years of schooling, she has personal trained anyone from the ages of 12-75 and has taught group exercise classes ranging from general strength, HIIT, kettlebell, yoga, TRX, and kickboxing. She found her passion through exercise and fitness and loves the opportunity to work with others to find their love for it as well.

Why PFP?

By day, Brenna works as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Pittsburgh but during nights and weekends, she has joined the PFP family to get further involved with the Pittsburgh community. As a weightlifter herself, she was drawn to the training at PFP but decided to join the team after witnessing the welcoming and inclusive environment that the gym provides. She loves the confidence and community that exercise brings to people and wants to share the benefits that she has gotten from training with others.

Brenna’s Philosophy

Brenna’s ideal client is anyone from 20 years and up as she is not permitted to work with recruitable-aged athletes per the NCAA regulations. Her philosophy is that the best exercise for someone is the one that they will enjoy and commit to, so she strives to get to know the client and their interests to help them match their goals with the activities that they will enjoy doing long term. She knows what it is like to train at an elite level but also understands what it feels like to have no idea where to start. Working with Brenna will be challenging but also educational, as she wants everyone, she works with to be educated on proper form and why they are doing each exercise. Whether you have experience with exercise and want to push your limits or are newer to training and don’t know where to start, Brenna is here to work with you.
